Understanding
One of the thins that Hume declares is that neither philosophy nor morality should be treated negatively. Although the moralists might be wrong in seeking one single cause for human morals out of which all conduct should stem, it is not the case that the subject of morality should be treated as something not necessary and discarded. Rather we must delve more into the topic and understand its depth. But the sad thing is that the deeper we go into any subject, the more we are confronted with questions regarding human understanding. The more we are confronted with such questions, the more we begin to realize that analyzing and answering such questions is difficult because there is no single standard that determines what understanding is, how it works, and whether or not we are really understanding anything at all.

Aren't there obvious moral decisions? Isn't trying to understand other's reasoning a moral virtue? Even though we can never really know what the best moral choice is, shouldn't we be praised for trying to understand?
Philosphy and morality can cause alot of chaos and strife in the human society b/c of all the strong ideas and opinions people have on these two subjects. Though Hume syas bboth should not be treated negatively, it's hard not to do so when they can cause so much conflict. In addition, they can contrdict each other as well causing some to be confused. maybe we should stop trying to figure out ways to explain human behavior and thought and stop trying to control it even through philosophy and morality.

STEVE man u gotta watch out and not make such general statements.
Your Question 1: "Aren't there obvious moral decisions?"
What do u mean aren't there? One culture and one religion has one set of laws and another has different laws, sometimes they could be drastically different. In one country, it could be the case that prostitution is legaized, in other that it is illegal, but people still do it, and there is no big punishment for it. Still yet in other countries prostitution us seen as a grave crime against society and that therefore the prostitute must be killed.
Question 2: "Isn't trying to understand other's reasoning a moral virtue?"
Well I would be able to answer that if I knew what your definition of morality is, or for that matter weather or not it is something real or just a product of our imagination.
Question 3: "shouldn't we be praised for trying to understand?"
Answer:What is it to say that something is praised? What is praise? what characteristics does something need to have in order for it to be praised?
